Climbing the Crystal Ladder to Better Futures for Kids with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Plasticity® Brain Centers is proud to partner with the incredible organization, The Crystal Ladder Learning Centre, a school located in Toronto, Canada, dedicated to educating children with autism. Recently, we had the pleasure of sponsoring the organization’s Holiday Dream Gala, in which we helped raise more than $80,000 for this worthy cause. With over 700 people in attendance, our director of patient and professional relations, Jamie Norman, spoke about her journey to Plasticity® Brain Centers and the reasons why she continues to help people through neuroplasticity every day. The Crystal Ladder Learning Centre also showed a heartwarming video highlighting its students who have attended Plasticity® Camp for Kids. In addition, we were honored to donate a week of treatment (a $7,500 value) as well as a signed jersey from one of Dr. Antonucci’s past patient’s —Pittsburgh Penguins captain, Sidney Crosby— to its raffle.

In addition to the gala, Plasticity® Brain Centers hosted a workshop at The Crystal Ladder Learning Centre the next day to educate families and parents on better understanding the Plasticity® approach to helping children on the autism spectrum. Dr. Emily Kalambaheti led the two-hour workshop with her clinical presentation on the Plasticity® Pyramid, in which she outlined how Plasticity® Brain Centers focuses on building a stronger foundation in order to effect change in behavior.

Plasticity® Brain Centers’ relationship with The Crystal Ladder Learning Centre goes back to our former patients, Paula and Andrea, who at a young age had been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. In March 2017, the girls, along with their family, visited Plasticity® Brain Centers all the way from Canada seeking an improved quality of life. The expectations for Paula and Andrea’s improvements were far exceeded, along with how much the tremendous partnership would grow.

Paula and Andrea’s mother is the founder of The Crystal Ladder Learning Centre. When the two completed the five-day program at Plasticity® Brain Centers, she knew they had to tell everyone back at the school in Canada of the resounding success they had seen in physical and cognitive function of their daughters. Additionally, other parents noticed the changes in the girls, and the interest in Plasticity® Camp for Kids was immediate. A month after their treatment, Paula and Andrea’s family called Plasticity® Brain Centers, notifying us they would be hosting a field trip to bring more children from the school to participate in Plasticity® Camp for Kids. Each year since then The Crystal Ladder Learning Centre has brought groups of students to Plasticityâ Brain Centers for treatment. In addition, the organization has been utilizing our at-home exercise regimens as part of their school’s curriculum.

Since we have built this strong partnership with The Crystal Ladder Learning Centre, we look forward to continuing our work with this impactful organization. Our common goal is to see each one of the school’s students attend our program and to watch them thrive toward brighter futures.
